03The examination

Four lenses,
turned in order

Every site goes through the same four steps in the same order, so nothing gets made up on the day it should have been decided.

Lens 01 · +0.25

Discovery — we talk

Forty-five minutes on the phone or at your shop. What you do, who calls you, what they ask before they book, and what you keep having to explain twice. I look at who else comes up when someone searches for your trade around here. Then I tell you in plain-English what I think the site needs — and if I think you need less than you came for, I will say that too. The day counts on these steps are for the one-page build; a multi-page site runs three to four weeks, and anything with booking or compliance in it runs longer.

What you get

  • A plain-English rundown of what the site should do and why
  • An honest look at who you are up against locally
  • What it costs and how long it takes, before you pay anything
  • A straight answer on whether you need me at all

Lens 02 · −1.75

Design Direction — you see it before it is built

I write the copy from the recording of our conversation, in your words rather than mine, and lay out how the page will look. You see it and tell me what is wrong. Nobody hands you a blank document and asks you to fill it in — that is the step that stalls most website projects for months, so I do it.

What you get

  • Real copy, written from what you actually said, not placeholder text
  • The layout, so you know what you are getting before it exists
  • Colors and type set for readability, including at arm's length
  • One round of changes built into the price

Lens 03 · −3.00

Build

I write it by hand. No page builder, no template, nothing bolted on that slows it down. Your phone number goes everywhere it should be, and the whole thing is built to come up fast on a phone with two bars of signal, because that is where most people will see it.

What you get

  • Hand-written code, zero CMS lock-in, nothing to log into
  • One tap to call or text you from anywhere on the page
  • Marked up so Google can read your trade, your area and your number
  • Checked on a real phone, not just a desktop browser window

Lens 04 · +1.00

Launch & 90-Day Tuning

I point the domain, get it into Google, and set up or tidy your Google listing. Then for 90 days, anything that is genuinely broken I fix at no charge — you text me, I sort it. After that the site is still yours and still works; the care plan is there if you want me keeping an eye on it, and it is fine if you do not.

What you get

  • Domain pointed, site live, Google told it exists
  • Code and domain in your name — handed over, not lent
  • 90 days of repairs at no charge, by text, direct to me
  • The care plan if you want it, and no hard feelings if you do not

05The practice

One person,
one town at a time

I’m Adam Youssef. I build websites by hand from Clovis for businesses across Fresno and the Central Valley. You get my cell number, not a ticket queue, and the person who answers is the person who wrote the code.

A local business doesn’t need a brand platform. It needs to be found by someone standing forty feet away with a phone in one hand, and understood in the four seconds before they give up. Everything I build is for those four seconds.

So I listen before I design, I write before I build, and I hand you the keys at the end. An eye doctor doesn’t keep your glasses.

Rules of the practice

  1. 01No templates sold as custom. Ever.
  2. 02Prices published, never behind a phone call.
  3. 03You keep the code, the domain and the logins.
  4. 04I don’t disappear. When you text, I answer.
  5. 05If one page is enough, that’s what I’ll tell you.

What’s in the case

Three things,
done properly.

A website on its own doesn’t get you found. These three work together, and I do all of them myself.

01The website itselfBuilt by hand, fast on a phone, and yours the day it goes live.

I write the site from scratch rather than dropping your business into a template. That means there is nothing in it that does not need to be there, so it comes up quickly on a phone out in the field — which is where most people will find you. There is no content system to log into and no monthly fee keeping it switched on. The code and the domain are in your name from the first day.

  • A page that loadsHand-written, no page builder, nothing bolted on that slows it down.
  • Readable on any screenClean type, proper contrast, and tap targets big enough to actually hit.
  • Nothing to break intoNo database, no plugins, no login page — so there is very little to attack.
02Your Google listingThe panel people see before they ever reach your website — set up properly.

When somebody searches for your trade in Fresno, Google shows a short list with a map above everything else. That panel is built from your Google Business Profile — the free listing Google keeps about your business — and for a local trade it matters more than the website. Most people never fill theirs in properly. I set yours up: the right category, real photos, your service area, your hours, and a simple way to keep reviews coming in. I cannot promise you a position on that list, and you should be wary of anyone who does — what I can do is make sure nothing about your listing is holding you back.

  • Category and service areaGetting these wrong quietly keeps you out of results you should be in.
  • Photos that are actually yoursYour trucks, your crew, your finished work — not stock images.
  • Reviews, without the gamesA text link that makes leaving one easy. No fake reviews, ever.
03Being found in your areaPages built around the neighborhoods you actually work in.

National booking sites outrank local trades because they have pages for every town and you have one page for everywhere. The fix is not complicated: give each area you serve its own page, written about that area rather than copy-pasted. Tower District, Fig Garden, Woodward Park, Old Town Clovis. I also mark the site up so Google can read what you do, where you do it, and how to reach you, instead of having to guess.

  • Pages per neighborhoodEach one written for that area rather than swapping out the town name.
  • Markup Google can readStructured data so your trade, service area and contact details are unambiguous.
  • Written for people about to callAimed at the search someone makes when the problem is already happening.

Loose lenses

Follow-up visits.
Optional, and I mean it.

Your site runs fine without me. It’s plain files: no plugins to update, nothing that breaks at 2 a.m. These are for people who’d rather send one text than think about their website.

  • No plan$0/mo

Take the keys and go. The site is yours and it keeps working without me.

  • Care Plan$99/mo

Hosting, updates, and small changes handled. Cancel any month — the site stays yours either way.

  • Care Plus$249/mo

Everything in the Care Plan, plus the site keeps growing. Same deal: cancel any month and it stays yours.

Cancel with one text. No contract, no exit fee, no “migration charge.” You already have the code, the domain and the logins, because you had them from day one.

How this is worked out

Compared with a page that loads in about a second. Google’s mobile research found that going from 1s to 3s raises the chance someone leaves by 32%, to 5s by 90%, and to 10s by 123%. I assume 40% of visitors leave even from a fast page, and 5% of the ones who stay call or text you. It’s an estimate, not a promise, but every number is here so you can check it.Source ↗

09Questions before the exam

What people ask
before they call.

Who owns the website and the domain once it's live?

You do, completely, from day one. The code, the domain, and the hosting account are all in your name. Plenty of companies keep your site on their own system and charge you every month to leave it switched on — cancel and you lose the design, the text, the lot. That isn't how this works. You get the whole thing, and if you ever want someone else to take over, you hand it to them and walk.

What do I actually get for $500?

One page, built by hand, live in about a week. Your phone number sits at the top, the bottom, and on a bar that follows people down the page, so calling or texting you is one tap. It loads fast on a phone. It's set up so Google understands who you are and where you work. And it's yours the day it goes live. What it isn't: a multi-page site, a blog, or a logo. If you need those, say so and I'll quote it properly rather than pretend a one-page job covers it.

Why is it $500 when everyone else wants thousands?

Because it's a launch offer and it's limited to the first 5 businesses, and because one page really is about a day of my time once we've talked. After those 5 it goes to $750, which is still less than most shops around here charge for a template. The bigger builds cost more because they take longer — there's no trick to it.

Do I have to write all the words myself?

No. We talk for about forty-five minutes, I record it, and I write the site from what you actually said. Most people put off getting a website for months because someone handed them a blank twenty-page document and told them to fill it in. That's the step that kills these projects, so I do it.

Do I have to sign up for anything monthly?

No. The care plan is there if you want it — $99 a month covers hosting, backups, security updates, and small changes whenever you need them — but the site is yours whether you take it or not. Cancel any month, no notice period, no penalty, and you keep everything. If you'd rather host it yourself and call me when something comes up, that's completely fine.

Can we keep our existing booking or ordering system?

Usually, yes. If your customers already book or order through something that gives you a link or an embed — most of the common ones do — I can put it on the page without slowing the site down. Tell me what you're running when we talk and I'll confirm before you pay me anything, rather than promising first and finding out afterwards.

What happens if something breaks after launch?

You text me and I fix it. You have my mobile — (559) 575-3014 — not a ticket queue. For the first ninety days after a build, anything that's genuinely broken I fix at no charge. After that, small things I'll still usually just do; if something turns into real work I'll tell you what it costs before I start, not after.

How long does it take?

About a week for the one-page build, three to four weeks for a multi-page site, longer if there's booking or compliance work in it. You're dealing with me directly rather than passing notes through an account manager, so changes happen the same day instead of next sprint.

We're a medical practice. How do you handle patient privacy?

By not collecting patient information on the website at all. Web forms that gather health details create a compliance problem most small practices don't want and don't need — HIPAA penalties run into tens of thousands of dollars. Instead the site routes people to a phone call or a referral fax, which are channels your practice already handles correctly. Nothing sensitive is stored on the web server, because nothing sensitive is collected there.
